We just heard on the radio about a group called Wild Ones that
are promoting the use of native plants in our yards and gardens
instead all the horrible stuff out there (like grass). Their
website is here: WildOnes
A friend of Dawn Duckie who is a great photographer has offered
to let us use her photos. Now the WebWench just needs to get it
done!
The new calendar is ready!! (sort of) We have the calendar for
year -89649 put together, but we don't have background images for
it yet. Any good suggestions for background images will be much
appreciated.
The most recent exciting news is the addition of Daily Teachings to our Beliefs category. This was inspired by Dawn Duckie's visit with Witch Amanda. She taught Dawn Duckie that following a ritual of Daily Affimation is helpful to focus our energies for achieving the results we desire. So our first Teaching is about using Daily Affirmation to enhance our beauty as a woman. Don't judge yet! We know that beauty should not be the metric by which our value is decided. Read the teaching, we think you will agree with much of it. And if not feel free to ignore it!
And if you have a better idea, or any good idea, please share
with us your Teaching and we will post it here. We are here to all
support and encourage each other on our path of continuous
improvement!
Happy New Years!!!
I hope everyone is looking fabulous and enjoying your new dresses today!
One of our members of the Central Manifestation has offered to
hand make customized ceramic crucibles for any witches in need of
one. She is not a witch herself, so if you need it infused with
magic that will need to be done by you.
To order one, send an email to the centraldawns gmail address and
their WebWench will forward it along. To fluster the bots we
didn't give the full address, you can figure it out. And our
email filters will delete as spam anything without the subject of
"Dawns Forever"
we have insider information from a corresponding witch in Sonoma
County that Three Sisters Apothecary, a long time favorite of
ours, will be coming out with a spell book! Three
Sisters Apothecary
We were planning to auspicate the dance dom on imbolc, but alas, the spirits did not cooperate. Firstly, our witch was not available to lead the proceedings, and secondly it was really cold.
So we postponed it until the weekend, and the weather was fabulous!
We have been planning a fairy garden for quite some time, and resolved to start with a dance dom for the Meliae. They love to dance, and have very specific preferences for their dom. (for those not familiar with the term, a dom is basically a house) They do not actually live in structures, but if one suits them they will gather there to dance. The Meliae want the dom to be circular, snug and windproof, rainproof, and cute. Decorations of flowers, vines, birds, and such are very desirable. Inside they like a candle light with lots of sparkly jewels or crystals. This is a picture of the dom we built:

The Meliae prefer their dom to be on a tree trunk about 20 feet above the ground, but that's not always convenient. So we installed our on a post cut from a tree, at about 5 feet high. Here it is:

You can see that we are placing straw around the base of it. This is to keep the weeds out in the summer; it's not actually important to the fairies. But it will be important to us this summer when we make the fairy garden around it.
The next step is to place the dancing dom on top of the trunk. Here it is now in place:

What you can't see is that there is a candle inside. Later we will light the candle, during the bringing of the light. That takes place at sundown. So now we light a bonfire and start the actual celebration. The fairies don't like the people and noise so they won't actually join, but they will watch from their hiding places. Here we have the fire going nicely:

We took a video of the bringing of the light, but it was kind of
dark and didn't come out very well so I'll just explain it. One
takes a stick (I use incense) and lights it in the bonfire, and
then transfers the light to the candle. Then we process from the
bonfire to the garden with the candle. This should be accompanied
by music and singing. Then the roof is lifted up and the lighted
candle is place inside the dom, and the roof put back down.

Now the auspication is complete, and the music, singing and
dancing continue all night!
